A stand is a plate mounted on an angled base. The difference from a glued plate is not decorative: it moves. It goes on the counter at busy times, on the table of a customer who has just paid, in the window on a Sunday, and away in the evening.

The angle changes the gesture
A flat plate is read by putting the phone on it. A stand is read by bringing the phone close, which is what people do instinctively in front of an angled screen. In a shop with a crowded counter, that detail often decides whether the object gets used or disappears under the bags.
Weight matters on a table
A light support ends up on the floor at the first elbow. The bamboo base of our stand weighs more than twice the acrylic version, which is the main argument for table service rather than a counter.
When a glued plate is better
If the spot never changes and the counter is small, a glued plate takes less room and cannot be knocked over. A stand earns its place when the position changes during the day, or when you would rather not glue anything to the furniture.
Care
Soft, slightly damp cloth, no solvent: alcohol and harsh glass cleaners cloud acrylic. Bamboo only needs a dry cloth. The chip itself is unaffected by water or cold.

Does the stand come apart?
No, plate and base are assembled in manufacture, so they cannot separate during cleaning.
Can it go on a restaurant table?
That is the main use of the bamboo version, which is heavier and therefore steadier than a light support.
Does it need a socket or a battery?
Neither. A passive NFC chip is powered by the field of the phone reading it.
How long does the chip last?
A passive NFC chip has no battery and does not wear out in use. The support ages before it does.
